Outside of a domain the only accounts available are
the ones defined on the machine itself.
Have you tried defining on each child machine and
admin account that matches in name (an optionally also
password) the account you are using when attempting
to remotely admin ?
If you have done this and still have troubles, try first
mapping a drive from the system you are trying to
remotely administer, such as \\remotebox\c$
