If you disable System Restore, XP will empty the System Volume
Information folder. (WinME used the C:\_Restore folder for the same
purpose.) This will rid the SVI folder of viruses. You can then
re-enable System Restore, but if you don't rid your system of the virus,
it will end up in SVI again.

I recommend you clean the macro virus and make a manual restore point,
then delete old restore points using the Disk Cleanup option.
