Yes, I do it all the time. I've never had a problem doing so.

It always surprises me that people are afraid to give their
credit card number to a company on the internet, yet have no
worries over handing their card to a waiter they've never seen
before in a restaurant, who then takes it into another room where
he can anything at all with it.

There's some risk either way, of course, but the risk is small in
both cases. My guess is that it's considerably greater with the
waiter than with the internet.

And if my number should be used illegitimately, all I need to do
is tell the CC company and they remove the charge. Worst case, I
might be out a maximum of $50.
