hello: First of thanks in advance for any help any of you
can give me. I've tried everything over the last couple
of months and I'm about to go crazy:1) motherboard is
a "Gigabyte Tech, Inc. P4 Titan model GA-8ITX"
with "Intel 850 AGset (chipset)". My Burning ROM is "Nero
5.5". Everything was working fine until a couple of
months ago. At the end of every month, I have saved
contracts from clients that are e-mailed to me (I use
outlook express). I then send those e-mails to D drive,
where thay are waiting to be written to CD. Every month,
no problem: all of the sudden, the system won't let me
write to CD anymore. The warning says unable to write
because of the disk: it's not the disk, because I can
write from "Nero Burnig Rom" but not from files stored in
OS D drive to CD. Before, ther was no problem. Now,
there's a problem. Also, I can't listen to any audio (AC
Media, Inc. Audio hardware/drivers are integrated with
motherboard). I called the Gigabyte Tehnology for
support. The walked me through reset BIOS. Nothing
happened: they've determined that the motherboard has a
problem with the integrated audio hardware. They said to
just purchase a seperate audio card and install it. From
Device manager, it says that the devive is working
properly, but it also says that it won't start (code 10).
When I go to media player, the warning says that there is
no audio hardware installed. I've tried everything,
uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them.etc. I
have a feeling that my OS, all of the sudden a couple of
months ago, is having a problem with writing & audio.
Could it be that a windows update I did at that time
caused a conflict? One person said that I might have to
reconfigure my harddrive/reinstall windows xp pro, etc. I
thought about restoring the system to just before I
stated to have the problems, but , I figured I'd get some
good advise first. my sytem is not proprietary: I had it
custom built by a company that specializes in PC's.
microsoft won't give me support because the place that
built my system put OEM in the serial number. Please help
me. I can do the simple stuff (installing
externals/software, etc.) But, when it comes to OS's /
device drivers, Bios, etc., I'm lost. Please help. I'm
just a guy that works out of his house trying to support
his family. This has really hindered me. You can also
call me toll free @ 866-359-0700. If you get my voice
mail, please leave a message with a return number.
Sincere thanks. Stewve @ sufyanjr@yahoo.com.
