admin issue: please help

good day.
i cant log on as administrator anymore in my notebook. i
was tweaking with the network settings so that i can
connect two laptops both with xp using direct cable
connection. that worked, problem is when i rebooted the
computer, my name which has administrator security is not
in the welcome screen anymore.
already tried doing the ctrl + alt + del method. problem
is my original password does not work anymore. my
notebook originally had 4 users: myself (with my name, as
administrator), two others with limited account, and
guest. now only the three can be found in the welcome
screen.
also tried going into the regedit area (as suggested via
email). problem is since i cant log on as administrator,
i cant do any changes there.
i want to use the recovery cd but i have to do this only
after backing up my files. in there is another problem. i
have an external cd-r drive. problem is i cant use it
because nero only works if you are administrator. now i
cant install another cd-r program because i cant log on
as administrator.
