I have no solution to offer, but I think I am seeing a
related problem. I also have three accounts (a sysadmin
and two limited accounts) on my system. They initially
performed as expected (i.e. switching between user
accounts worked), but some unhandled event, possibly
closing the lid (its a DELL laptop), may have triggered an
interrupt that isn't being properly handled), the system
claims not to be able to locate the user profile.

I have since tried deleting the limited user accounts
entirely, recreating them under the same name and under
different names, only to discover that any limited user
accounts I now create, can't be successfully accessed
subsequent to creation. The system seems to think that
the user profiles are located somewhere else on the
network. Since this is the only Windows on the local
network, you can imagine that any network request for a
user profile would fail.

I've installed the lion's share of the SP1a upgrades and
wonder if this problem may have been triggered by one of
those patches?
