Accounts that get locked out will normally become
unlocked after the preset lockout period has expired.
Have you tried to use Alt-Cntrl-Del-Del at the login
screen in order to log in with your prior account ?
Setting a password should not have removed an
account from the screen if it had a password before
and was being shown - so what else happened ?
It is highly likely that the account is still there, but
you just do not know how to get at it.
