Try the recovery console again and this time try bootcfg /rebuild and see if
that does the trick to allowing you to get back into windows xp.

Oh man, so close!  I cannot modify any values using set,
as it is disabled by default, and in order to enable it I
must use the Security Analysis and Configuration Snap In,
which I believe I cannot access, right?
