Hi,
I am running Windows XP professional and am attempting to
configure local group policies as we have an NT4 domain
structure in place.
The local policies are not being applied. In the
application event log there is an error with source
userenv and event id 1054. The description is:
Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your
computer network. (The specified domain either does not
exist or could not be contacted. ). Group Policy
processing aborted.
All DNS entries are correct as the workstation is set to
retrieve IP settings from an NT4 DHCP server and the
nslookup command works perfectly. DNS servers are BIND.
All domain connectivity and access works successfully.
Has anybody come upon this problem before and is there
any resolution?
Thanks
David
