How to access old "My Documents" folder?

Please forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I
couldn't find info anywhere...

I had severe problems with my Windows XP (Home Edition)
installation (I couldn't boot up at all, even in safe
mode), so I decided to install a fresh copy on my main
partition.

I've installed the new version all right--but I can't open
up the "My Documents" folder I'd been using with my old
account. I can see the folder, but when I try to open it I
get the error message "Access is denied". The old account
in question was not password-protected or encrypted, and
I'm trying to open the folder with my new installation's
administrator account (which, in principle, should be able
to open any file or directory--that's what online help
says). Is there any way for me to open the directory? Like
I said, I can't boot into my old version of Windows. Yes,
I backed up the folder, but my backup is almost two weeks
old, and if I can recover the latest version, I'd be
*much* happier...

If there's no way to get at the directory in Windows XP,
is there some utility I can download or buy to give me
access to that directory? Again, the account which created
it was *not* password protected, and I'm running with an
administrator account.

Thanks much,
