That may get to part of the way there but I do not believe
you will find recovery by those means satisfactory.
Use NTbackup to backup your system drive with the
System State option selected. Then, if you do need to
recover you can, in worse case, do a quick install and
then within it restore the prior system from this backup.
Note that if/when you get problems they may be rooted
in and/or spread to the programs and data partitions.
