My mate`s got left his PC on overnight he`s a bit of a newbie - he uses
Remote Desktop I often log into his system to look at problems/set things
up.

Anyway I wanted to log into his system to setup his OE to connect to my IMAP
server but he`s gone to bed and I don`t know his IP - I know its within a
range of 556 IP addresses so just for a laugh I started out by pinging each
of the 556 addresses and if I got a reply I would attempt remote desktop
connection.

Anyway out of the first 233 hosts got about 9 responces none of which were
running RD then went onto the next block there were about 20 replys in this
block but could not bring up my mates RD box - then as I had only started
from host ***.***.***.20 of each range I pinged the remaining 40 of each
subnet.

At ***.***.***.10 of the first subnet I got a reply and tried an RD
connection well it started connecting and I thought bingo this is my mates
PC well when I was presented with the login screen I noticed that it was not
my mates as it had a domain box HOME and this computer was called CAJONES.

Well for a laugh I thought I`d have a stab at the administrator`s account
for a laugh I took a guess at admin as the password and to my surprise I was
authenticated as it said user JIM/HOME is currently logged on to this system
do you want to log him off Y/N :)

I said Yes then it started doing a remote logoff :) well it never finished
about 10secs later I tried to ping that IP address and got no reply so I
guess JIM hit the power button in a blind panic.

What a guess tho but what a sucky administrator password admin is - old JIM
probably thinks Microsoft or the FBI are after him now lol :)
