While attempting to reinstall Windows XP to repair
possible corrupted or damaged files, I chose not to
completely format my hard drive and install Windows,
rather I chose to just re-install Windows itself. After
assigning the PC a name and listing the user accounts for
this PC, I encountered a major issue upon logging in. I
have two user accounts, which are the same two accounts I
had upon my initial installation of Windows XP, and
logging in to either of the two gives me no access
whatsoever to the programs & files on my hard drive. By
performing a basic search, I can see that everything is
still on my hard drive but I can't access it because I
keep getting an error that reads: "this program has not
been installed for this user account"? I also noticed
that under the list of users, I have the two original
names as well as two additional names. The two additional
names are the same as the originals, only they are
followed by a ".(name of PC). For example, If I named my
PC "Downstairs PC" and one of my user accounts was "Bob",
There would be both a "Bob" and a "Bob.Downstairs PC"??
I am apparently being logged on as the "user name.PC
name" because when I look at the documents and settings
folder, there is no linkage to any of the installed
programs. However, if I perform a search of the programs
under one of the two user names (without the PC name at
the end) All of the programs are listed but I can't
access them?

Could someone please help? I have several documents and
e-mail contacts that I need to have access to soon!

Thanks,
