J Fletcher,

While a lot of respondents have provided various comments etc.

You are faced with 2 basic choices to rectify this.
1. Get you child to logon and give you account back it's admin rights
and then logon as this now admin account, remove his, reset your
password (just in case) and have a chat with them.
2. Check to see if the real "Administrator" account has been
compromised. If you have Windows XP Professional you just press
CTRL-ALT-DEL twice quickly at the welcome screen and logon as
Administrator - the password is the one you set while installing the
product, or if it came preinstalled it may be password or just leave it
blank. (note your child may know about this and may have changed it)
Once in - do step 1.
For Windows XP Home Edition - I believe you need to boot into safe mode
(by pressing F8 at the start of the boot process) and then login as
above as Administrator
