Hi,
We are getting the following error when we are trying to register our
VB6 custom-built DLLs on our Windows XP workstations after a domain
server name change:
"DllRegisterServer in C:\Program Files\...\File.dll failed. Return
code was: 0X80004005."
We recently had to change our main WINNT4 domain server to a W2K
Server and its name was changed too. So it moved from NameA to NameB.
Consequently, we had to change our Windows XP Pro workstations Network
Identification settings. The result of this is that our desktops were
back to the original Windows first logon (without our preferences,
shortcuts and all). So we copied our user profiles over to the new
USER.DOMAIN folder under Documents and Settings using the tool
provided in System Properties. This seems to cause the problem. We are
all local administrators.
We can register DLLs we haven't built ourselves everywhere on the hard
drive. However, no matter where our own DLLs are put, we cannot
register them. We keep getting the above message. Anybody has an idea
why?
Thanks.
Alain
