I'm really screwed here.
Ad-Aware blew my Registry away. XP will not boot - gave an error on
\Windows\System32\Config\System. I tried to recover using Microsoft
KB307545 but the system will not boot into any XP mode successfully to
complete the procedure; even safe mode. Then I started to get disk errors
that CHKDSK said it couldn't fix.
I've accepted (reluctantly) that I need to re-format and re-install; BUT, I
really need to copy my Outlook.pst file (it has all my software registration
keys in it) and some photos only stored on C:.
I have booted from the XP Setup CD to the Recovery Console, but it will not
let me change directory to either "Documents and Settings" or "My
Documents" - I get 'Access is Denied' - even though I am logged into the
Console as Administrator and the directories are NOT encrypted.
Any help gratefully received!
