I'm afraid it's way too difficult to do that without some
real good expertice help. I myself own the HP ScanJet
3200C scanner (it's a very bad scanner btw) and it have
caused me nothing but trouble really. The support seem to
be crap for older product like these (I personally think
Hewlett Packard are idiots for not being able to make a
simple driver to work properly in XP) and the lack of
documentation has also been a really disturbing issue for
me. (I guess they are cutting away the customer service
these days).
Anyway, the only thing I can suggest really is to make
changes to the security level of each usergroup (Control
Panel > Admin tools > Computer Management > User and
Groups) and simply add the users you want to have access
to the scanner to the Administrator group, although they
will gain some unwanted access to certain aspects that
way...
Just remember to still keep them in the Restricted User
group though, at least that'll apply SOME restrictions.
Well, it's either that or buying a new scanner I guess. If
you manage to find another option I would be happy to know
aswell.
Cheers.
