use of HP scanner as restricted user

Apparently, using a scanner as XP restricted user is not
possible.

I installed the HP Scanjet 2300C driver software
correctly as administrator but it is only usable as
admin.

HP helpdesk told me to check XP sources in order to know
how to assign (like in W2000) individual rights to
restricted users without having to make everyone
administrator.

Anyone can help?
