Max,

First off do you have windows xp home or pro.
Secondly are there other user accounts on the machine you
are trying to log into? If there is other accounts on
your computer with administrative rights you can go in
and reset your password. I believe you must have Windows
XP PRO to reset a users password but I am unsure of it.
If you have pro this is how you reset a password. Log
into the computer using someone elses logon that has
admin rights. Right click my computer icon and click
manage. THere will be a list of different items. Click
local users and groups and then click the users folder.
You then should see your name in the right box. Right
click your name and hit reset password. A dialogue box
will come up and be self explanitory.

If you are the only user account on the machine give this
a try hold control-alt-delete down twice and a logon box
will come up. Try Administrator as the user name and
blank password. Then go about the process described
above. If you have XP home you can go to control panel
then users and then go to your user name and change
password.

Hope this helps
