how do I restrict access to D: drive

How do I restrict access to my backup drive for my
limited users? I don't want roommates to have access to
my backup files but in XP home the "make this folder
private" doesn't work on my other drive. If I place my
backup folder in my docs folder on c: it works but that
defeats the purpose of a backup! Help...
