There are two demo versions: multiplayer and single player. Links to various
download sites can be found here:

I downloaded the multiplayer demo and it worked fine. The single player
installs fine, but crashes upon playing. Computer settings the same when
running both. I mentioned that I did find one fix that two others found for
this problem: a reinstallation of Windows XP. What are your thoughts on
that? A bit drastic?

see where its failing. Is there a trial version available?
