The explanation is that Electronic Arts doesn't support XP. You should
complain vehemently about this and demand an installer that supports XP.
The software will run, but the installer controls where things get
placed and the application is sometimes hardwired for specific
locations, which is a programming mistake. Patches can fix these
problems, but only if EA is willing to spend the time.

(But only Doug will actually help you get things going.)
