Who cares? I do, that's who :-)

If I install a shareware (or even commercial) application that I don't
expect to be communicating over the Internet, I want to know if it attempts
to connect. Who knows how many freeware or shareware applications send
personal information across the net without the user's knowledge.

It's just another line of defense.
