I have been having the same problem. Dial into the VPN server (NT4) from
home and can access network resources- except the server itself! Connect to
the network locally and I can access the shares on that NT4 box no problem.
I haven't been able to solve this problem, but have thought about this. When
a VPN connection is made, the VPN server assigns itself and the connected
client IP addresses. I imagine both of these new IP addresses must be in the
same range as that found on the network and must also not already be in use.
