Desktop Recovery from Prior Installation

While messing around with my second HDD, I somehow
damaged my OS bootup on the first drive. I reinstalled XP
Home onto the second drive and can now access the
contents of the first drive, but want to recover the old
settings and desktop. Any way to do this??
