With any firewall question or problem, check your firewall logs to see what
if anything is being blocked, then consider changing the configuration to
permit it. If that doesnt fix the problem, post what you see in the logs.
You will need to know that FTP uses two connections: a connection from the
client to the server on the server's TCP port 21 for the command / control
connection, and a second connection for the actual data transfer, either
using TCP 20 or a randomly chosen port number, depending on whether Active
or Passive FTP is being used. a search of www.google.com for Active Passive
FTP will give you more detailed information on how to configure the rules,
which direction, etc. Also see:
