Unwanted Messenger ads

This has happened twice during the past week or so.

If this is a microsoft Messenger file how do I remove the
Messenger service from my computer as there is no 'Remove
Messenger icon'

Alternativelty is this a message inserted by the newspage
Canada.com I would appreciate your views on how to deal
with it
