In addition to what Eric has indicated, I will add that I have
also found attempts at such a config unsatisfactory, and, that
it really is possible to do much with "your" machine not in
"their" domain. This has the advantage of keeping your
machine as you have it configured rather than as their GPO
policies say it should be configured. Usually you can get
at most things using the domain credentials that have been
provided to you, either directly or via a similarly named
local account which you use for RunAs. This keeps your
box wholly yours, and you are always operating within
the environment of you local machine account.
