First, thanks for the reply.

I did see that, and that is my situation; I just wasn't sure if it only
applied to accessing RecoveryConsole from HD boot rather than a CD boot. I
spent a lot of time yesterday with Gateway; they are supposed to be sending
me a CD containing the fix that this MS article refers to. What perplexes
me is that I *have* gotten into RecoveryConsole a while back (no password
was asked for) when I first had the PartitionMagic induced hard drive
problems, couldn't boot from my hard drive, and had to repair the damage via
chkdsk in RecoveryConsole.
According to the MS article, I'll need to install RecoveryConsole to my hard
drive in order to make the fix. Or am I mis-reading this?

I can certainly try this, although it seems this is a work-around rather
than a fix, so I'd have to do this each time I'd need to access
RecoveryConsole. I'd guess booting from 6 floppies is going to be
incredibly time-consuming.

I'm using XP Home, and my options look different. When I get to
Administrative Tools, my options are:
Component Services, Computer Management, Data Sources, Event Viewer,
Performance, Services
I looked through all of these, but didn't find Local Policies/Security
Options anywhere. How do I access this in XP Home?
Once again, I appreciate your help, and hope I can get this solved.
