Hi

This is not correct for a lot of computer today (esp. laptops). E.g on Dell
laptops (maybe desktops also) the password is saved in a eeprom or something
like that, so removing the battery is no help. The only way to get it working
again is to contact Dell and show some proof of ownership, and they can reset
the password. This can be done over phone, they use some password challenge
against the unique tag number on the computer.
