A follow-up question, Mark:
I've done a little reading on this command, and nobody else mentions running
it from Safe Mode. "Kelly's XP Korner" even includes a registry change to
add "control userpasswords2" to the Control Panel.
Is there some reason this particular change needs to be run within Safe
Mode? I'm not challenging, just wanting to better understand this before I
do something I'm not too knowledgeable about.
Thanks.

Boot to Safe Mode. go to start/run, and type 'control userpasswords2' Uncheck "Users must enter a User name and password" Fill out the dialog for Administrator with a blank password. I am guessing you actually put a carriage return in as the password. -- Mark L.
