Hi

This behavior can occur in one of the following situations:

 - You purchase a new computer system, and the default user account password has been configured as "expired".
 - The Windows XP password policy has caused the user account password to expire.
 - You upgrade the computer from Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Windows Me) to Windows XP.

To resolve this issue, use the following methods in the order that they are presented:

Method 1: Enter a Blank Password
--------------------------------

In some cases, the default password has been set to a blank password. When you are prompted to change the password, leave the Old Password
box blank, and then enter a new password in the New Password box. Retype the new password in the Confirm New Password box, and then click
OK.

Method 2: Log on as Administrator and Reset the Password
--------------------------------------------------------

If you are unable to change the password for the default user account, log on to the computer as Administrator, and then reset the password on
the user account. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Restart the computer. After the Power On Self Test (POST), press the F8 key.
2. On the Windows Advanced Options Menu, use the ARROW keys to select Safe Mode, and then press ENTER.
3. When you are prompted to select the operating system to start, select Microsoft Windows XP <edition> (where <edition> is the edition of
Windows XP that is installed), and then press ENTER.
4. On the "To begin, click your user name" screen, click Administrator.
5. Type the administrator password, and then click the arrow button.

NOTE: In some cases, the Administrator password may be set to a blank password. In this case, do not enter a password before you click the
arrow button.

6. Click Yes to close the message stating that Windows is running in safe mode.
7. Click Start, then Control Panel
8. Click User Accounts.
9. Click on the user account whose password you want to change.
10. Click on Change Password, if you want to keep a password, or Remove password, if you don't want a password. If you remove the password,
skip the next step.
11. Enter the new password for the user and click Change Password
12. Close the User Accounts interface and restart the computer normally.

Method 3: If Windows XP Professional is joined to a Domain
----------------------------------------------------------

If you are unable to change the password for the default user account, log on to the computer as Administrator, and then reset the password on
the user account. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Restart the computer. After the Power On Self Test (POST), press the F8 key.
2. On the Windows Advanced Options Menu, use the ARROW keys to select Safe Mode, and then press ENTER.
3. When you are prompted to select the operating system to start, select Microsoft Windows XP Professional, and then press ENTER.
4. At the "Welcome to Windows" dialog box prompting you to Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to Begin, Press the CTRL+ALT+DEL keys together to bring up
the "Log On to Windows" dialog
5. Type the logon information for the administrator including the password, and then click OK

NOTE: In some cases, the Administrator password may be set to a blank password. In this case, do not enter a password before you click OK.

6. Click Yes to close the message stating that Windows is running in safe mode.
7. Click Start, then right-click My Computer, and then click Manage on the shortcut menu that appears.
8. In the Computer Management (Local) list, click the plus sign (+) to expand "Local Users and Groups".
9. Click the Users folder.
10. In the right pane of the Computer Management window, right-click the user account whose password you want to reset, and then click Set
Password.
11. Click Proceed.
12. In the "New password" box, type the new password for the user account.
13. Type the same password in the "Confirm password" box, and then click OK.
14. On the message stating that the password has been set, click OK.
15. Quit the Computer Management snap-in, and then restart Windows normally.

I hope it will help.
