I get asked this question quite often.

I posted a message in
microsoft.public.windowsxp.perform_maintain about a
different problem. The message is titled "CHKDSK cannot
lock the volume.", posted by me, of course. That message
describes the task I want to perform, the task that I
suspect may be possible in the Recovery Console. If you
can't find it, let me know and I'll repost it here, but I
was trying to keep my posts compartmentalized.

As for reinstalling the Recovery Console, I'll need to try
that when I have an opportunity. (I have loads of
problems, this is just the most serious one.)

Thanks for your attention. =)
