Thanks!!! - This wokred. I had to 1st use article Q307874
to disable simple file sharing. Once that was done, I
used the article referenced below Q308421. I was able to
take ownership of my personal folder on my primary drive
(which was installed as a slave since it would't boot) and
back up my persona folder.

I still plan on doing a clean install of XP, but at least
all my files are in tact and I did not loose any info.
