I also am getting the same thing when I try and Update
XPHome... And when ever I try and update ANY software...
I have followed all the directions given here and Still
get the message "Administrators Only (-2146828218) To
install items from Windows Update, you must be logged on
as an administrator or a member of the Administrators
group. If your computer is connected to a network,
network policy settings may also prevent you from
completing this procedure. "

I am not behind a firewall...
My Network Connection Properties show that I am not as
well...

I have never been able to get SP1 or anything updated on
this system since I bought it at XP release date!!!!!

Please help!!
