I got an e-mail and inadvertently clicked on the
attachment thinking it was a .doc format file but it was
something like filename.doc.scr (screensaver?) nothing
happened and I knew something wrong was brewing...
Now, everytime I log in, it takes 4 times longer to log
in. And when I connect to the internet using a dial-up
connection, my personal firewall warns me of this program
MYJF.EXE that is trying to broadcast and access an SMTP
server. It gives out a different server everytime
(mac.com, excite.com, yahoo.com, etc etc)
I believe this thing installed a script that puts a
mailer on my system.
I found that MYJF.EXE file and deleted it, but everytime
I log-in it recreates it after it gives me a warning that
it can't find it.... I'm seriously annoyed, does
anyone have any suggestions on how I can track down all
these components? an .INI file perhaps?
Using XP Home edition on a PIII laptop. Latest service
packs installed. (don't even know which one, there are
soooo many security fixes it's a joke)
Any help is greatly appreciated.
