Yeah, I used to refer to messenger as " Chuckie" :)
It took me a few tries to finally get it to not launch, I wish I could
remember what all I did - I know I didn't edit any registry settings and
messenger is still installed on my system.
Seems like I had to open messenger and pick to not start automatically, then
I had to choose in OE something similar, then I disabled the contact pane.
I know this probably isn't much help, but keep plugging, you'll get it to
where it won't launch.
