XP Service Pack 1 - Alert

Since I installed the SP1 I am having a problem with
several programs starting to load and then stop and I am
back at windows. I cannot 'install' the HP and Windows
SP1 incompatibility 'fix'. It downloads and starts to
install then dissappears. I've tried to install several
times with the same result.

Now what?
