Hi,
I don't know if this is the right message board or not, if it is not the
right one, please redirect me to the correct one.
I would like to set up a few accounts on my Windows XP Pro system. I
know that scripts can be used if I was on a network, but I'm not so I'm
guessing that is not an option.
I want my "limited" accounts to access only the required files needed to
run certain programs (Games) but I do not want them to have access to
anything else like my source code homework (VB6). There are a few
problems that make it so that I'm unable to do this without help
1) I don't have enough skills to do this on my own
2) ONe of the games requires access to certain registry keys, but the
only way I've found to get this game to work is to give the user FULL
RIGHTS to the entire registry. I do not like this solution. I do not
know the keys the game looks at to see if it's been installed. Do you
know a workaround or a better solution?
3) How can I make an account load only game required stuff? Meaning, I
don't want them to load any of my email stuff (Mozilla, AIM, MSN,
etc...) I do not want them to have internet access either (I use dial-up).
4) I partially know how to do this, but would like further assistance:
How can I amke sure they do not have access to my D, E and F drives?
5) HOw can I make the computer think that there is a CD in my drive when
it's not so that the kids won't have to put the CD into my computer
manually?
Thanks for your help in advance,
--- Nick
