You did not say BIOS before, I should have asked.
If the hard drive is not seen in the BIOS of any computer with a known
good IDE cable (you did switch cables didn't you?)
You checked and tried different jumper settings on the hard drive.
Check the pins on the hard drive.
The hard drive is still not seen in the BIOS-Yes, you have a
paperweight.
Formatting, deleting files could not have caused this.
There was something catastrophically wrong about to happen and this is
the time.
Is the hard drive still in warranty?
