I have seen lots of questions on this topic but no answers. So I
thought I would post the answer here.
The problem stems from folder permissions. I suspected this, but
still got the same problem when I changed folder permissions to Full
Control on the /Program Files/McAfee directory. Still didn't work. I
finally found out that you ALSO have to change the permissions in the
/Program Files/Common/Network Associates directory.
Detailed instructions on what to do and how to do it can be found at
http://www2.mcafeehelp.com//doconly.asp?docid=67997
They have instructions for Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP
Pro.
