Well, now, let's look at this logically.

First of all, there's the concept of NDA - most non-public beta tests are done
under strict non-disclosure agreements. You agree to test the new version,
you also agree to be restricted by the NDA, which usually says "don't talk
about the beta version with anyone but us - don't even acknowledge that you
have it."

So, anyone who responds to his question is either:
a) lying
b) another thief, working with a tarnished, if not trojanned, copy,
c) in breach of contract - see item 'a'

Again, I don't understand this concept of "honest thief" that you seem to base
your conclusions on. It is an assumption that seems broken to begin with.
