Sorry for your problems Serena ...... I went to ValueAdd to check and sure enough
it is installed BUT with this message below .............
I have a Sony and it is also on a Recovery CD
and Sony has added and deleated with they wanted. I would could send you a copy
but if it does not work in Home .......... wonder if there is a work around. If I
had known
all this I would have opted to buy XP Pro and mabye will if I can upgrade on this
laptop.

Hope you are able to work something out.
Morrigan.

TBackup Backup/Restore and ASR release notes

Backup/Restore

ASR

1. ASR is not supported on home edition.

IF you install NtBackup from the CD to the Home Edition, ASR functionality will
appear to work fine during
the backup session. Since the setup does not support ASR in the home edition, there
is no way to initiate
the ASR restore in case of a disaster. If you need to restore from this session,
install Windows XP manually
and then restore from the ASR media.

2. Backup to CDRW

If you decide to backup to a CDRW, you cannot target that device directly. You must
create a backup set of
650MB or less and backup to a file. After the file is complete, copy the file to
the CDRW.

Please refer to the readme for XP home edition for additional notes.

: 1. The VPR Matrix is a new product - it IS Best Buy's
: own system - they are the "OEM" for the VPR Matrix and
: provide "tech support" for it.
:
: 2. Why on XP Home Edition would Microsoft deem the
: backup utility to be a "Value Added" item not installed
: by default? Do people no longer need to back up their
: data? (yeah, right!) That utility, at a minimum, should
: be required included by Microsoft and installed by
: DEFAULT! IMHO.
:
: To those who suggested I didn't do my homework and the
: like: First of all, I researched computer systems
: online, even sought opinions from folks in various
: forums. When I narrowed the choices down, I went to Best
: Buy twice before actually purchasing - and that's quite a
: feat for a disabled person who is pretty much housebound
: and must make extraordinary arrangements and burden
: others to assist in such excursions.
:
: The sales info online simply indicated the system
: included XP Home Edition preinstalled. It did not
: indicate no install disk would be included with the
: package. It did not refer to it as being an OEM version
: of XP. It said: "Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
: preinstalled" - PERIOD.
:
: Nor did their in-store display which listed system
: components say a single word about XP, let alone that it
: was an OEM branded version. I know this for sure,
: because at the time of purchase I had them make me a copy
: of their sales tag which had the package info (for my
: file and reference), and have checked the copy to confirm
: that indeed no such verbage was included.
:
: During the two "research" trips to Best Buy, I spoke with
: no less than four sales people about the system - none of
: which volunteered that information, although they had
: plenty else to say about the system. I had no reason to
: suspect I was getting a system sans XP install CD.

: Perhaps it was naive to think that buying a computer went
: the same as it did the several years ago when I got my
: other computer -- which DID come with MS Windows O/S
: installed on it AND included the Windows 95 install CD
: AND Operator Manual as a part of the package, NOT just a
: restore disk. Sobeit!
:
: If my post keeps at least one other person from falling
: into the same trap, then that in and of itself, will make
: my posting worthwhile.
