welcome screen does not come up

im going to college in about a month and i want to make
it so that someone has to type a password in order to get
into my computer, i know i could use a CMOS password, but
would rather not if i don't have too. i assume that
since i am the the only user on the computer, the
computer skips the welcome screen becuase it deems it
unnecessary. I tried going into user accounts to try and
fix it but was unable to find a way to fix it. If anyone
could help it would be appreciated
