the system cost in round figures $1500 new off the shelf
january 2.

spending hard earned cash isn't an option i have available
to me in my current fiscal condition frankly...they want
almost $200 bucks for that install cd. i should also say
that spending hard earned cash has been unsuccessful at
every step of the way from the dozen or so software
products that became resources to protect the new
operating system close to instantly. i also got a linksys
4 port router hardware firewall on the advice of my system
repair specialist who for $300 got me the new router
installed it formated partitioned restored xp to a factory
contition flashed the bios and assured me that there
simply was no possible way i could be invaded again as
this linksys firewall was "invisible" to the outside
internet and was configurable to deny anything and
everything that tried to invade.

that was 25 format/restores ago when he just stopped
taking my calls and i was once again on my own to contend
with this crap. i've also long since wiped up my tears for
the things that $300 might have gotten me that would have
been meaningful.

i might be hacked if ...

i cant install and i cant uninstall programs on my own
computer...

if i get a new hard drive and a factory system cd ($350-
$400 thankyou very much) i will have successfully
approached the original outlay for this computer a second
time...

i might be hacked if i click on a program included with
the sony digital studio to view graphics and get an error
message that says this program will only run on a sony
system error 1303...

would someone go ahead and tell me if i have been hacked
or is it a hardware glitch.
