Quote: might be hacked if...i've used the proprietary restore
cds to restore over 50 times with full format and
partitions putting it back ostensibly to factory condition
where in reality i'm simply restoring it to the secure
condition that have been installed and are administerd
               remotely by someone besides me.

If the restore CD does not format the drive the "hack" is still present. If
after a format the "hack" is still there maybe its time to contact the
manufaturer and explain that they gave you a faulty rstore and to be very
very firm in your insistance of either a new machine or the original OEM XP
CD .Chance are that the "hack" penetrated to the restore partition and
everytime you restore you are restoring the hack as well.
I personally would be bitching like crazy till I received a response. You did
not state when you bought your system or if it was from a large corporation
or a local store. If all else fails go and buy a full retail version of
XP,borrow a friends 98/ME startup disk and completely format that HD
including the recovery partition. The during the new install format that
sucker again.
good luck
peter
