I would try one of the following

1. install something like Zonealarm (I run Zonealarm and
it gets hit a lot but hasn't let anything through that I
know of)
2. If you are on cable, getting a cable modem with
firewall
3. Put in a router
4. release the IP currently allocated by your ISP by
turning off the cable modem for a while and getting a new
one
5. run repair on each connection through settings\Network
connections
6. run virus scan
7. if feasible change your internet link over to your
other machine

as I understand it a hacker relies on knowing your IP to
get access anything you can do to change it or block
access to it will help

cheers
Mark
