can't access shares from other computers

Hello,

I'm on a non-domain local network through wireless access
points. I fairly recently installed WinXP Pro. For a
while, I could share files on the network with no
problem, but recently (don't really know when) things
stopped working. On a Win98 machine I could look at my
computer, but it says it doesn't have permission to
access. Another person said they couldn't even access
the workgroup.
This may give bulky answers, but assuming that no Windows
settings were adjusted other than turning off the
integrated firewall, what can I do to fix this? I can
access other computers with no problem, XP or not.
Ask me about specific settings and I'll tell you how
