You really need to get yourself over to the MSDN website. You've got a lot
of reading to do. Under both XP and windows 2000 (- and NT 4.0 for that
matter), you can't assume access to *anywhere* except the current user
portion of the registry and the folders that "my documents" and the profile
are stored in. There are programmers guidelines for writing for XP and the
like which deal with what you can and can't expect to do pretty well.
