folder restriction

I right click on a folder, choose prosperities, choose
sharing. The check box for - make this folder private -
is grayed out.
Have made all drives NTFS.
The only place I have found where the private box is not
grayed out is in the favorites section of IE.
Is there a problem with my user profile or something
else??
